SUMMARY:Racial Inequities in U.S. Immigration Laws in partnership with Saint John Neumann Catholic Church Racial Justice Ministry
DESCRIPTION:Racial Inequities in U.S. Immigration Laws on Wednesday, April 27                                                                  \nPlease join the Racial Justice Ministry on Wednesday, April 27 at 7:00 PM via Zoom for this important presentation.  Dominique Poirier, Director of Legal Services at Just Neighbors, will walk attendees through a timeline of U.S. immigration laws with a focus on three historical eras:  Overt Racist Immigration Laws (1790 – 1941), Reform (1942-1965), and Covert Racist Immigration Laws (1965 to present).  The presentation unpacks both the disparate treatment of immigrants of color versus white (largely European) immigrants, and the long-term consequences such treatment has had on how immigrants of color can legalize their status in the U.S. The presentation also decodes “facially neutral” laws which have had an outsized impact on immigrants of color. To register, go to https://bit.ly/3uy5DtE by April 26.\n
