As I write this, our office is humming with Dreamers coming in to renew their DACA status: As you may have heard, a federal judge in San Francisco ordered the administration to resume accepting renewals of DACA status. The Justice Department has asked the Supreme Court to review the order, bypassing the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security announced that it was again taking renewals, including individuals who were not eligible to renew by the October 5, 2017 deadline. Renewals will be accepted until the Supreme Court makes a decision, so we here at Just Neighbors know this is a short “window of opportunity”.
Your donated dollars and volunteer hours are hard at work helping immigrants whom most Americans agree deserve a path to citizenship. While the staff and volunteers at Just Neighbors are tirelessly assisting these DREAMERS each day during this unexpected DACA Renewal window of opportunity, we wanted to take the time to express our thanks for your continued support of our mission.
