about volunteering at Just Neighbors. Ryan Clough was one of our great volunteers last summer. Here is what he has to say about his experience.
- Just Neighbor’s location gives it a truly advantageous ability to attract clients. In a few short months, I worked with clients from all over the world. Just Neighbors has a particularly strong reputation within local communities of immigrants from certain corners of the globe. Clients from these communities typically have high expectations of your work. It is incredibly satisfying to work in a place where high quality work is expected and regularly delivered.
- On a similar note, I have never worked in a legal practice where clients return so often. Previous clients usually are so warm to the attorneys and staff that have helped them in the past. This is something I think is so incredible. Stepping into that environment as a summer employee, I immediately felt like a part of that community.
- I really didn’t realize the level of personal interaction I would have with clients until I arrived at Just Neighbors. I learned about their cultures. I used and developed my language skills with them. I learned about their lives, at times witnessed tears, and heard impassioned stories of people searching for justice. Working for people like that was truly a one of a kind experience.
- I noticed every day the strong sense of ministry in my coworkers’ mentality, and it was something that made every day worthwhile.
